The CANDLE consortium actively contributed to the 3rd TEHDAS2 public consultation on six guidelines for Health Data Access Bodies and on diverse aspects of data use.
In its reply, CANDLE broadly welcomed the draft guidelines as a solid and useful foundation and provided suggestions on how to make them more user-oriented and better adapted to real-world research workflows. Priorities included the need for clearer differentiation of roles, responsibilities and user journeys; practical examples, decision workflows, templates and visual guidance; and stronger recognition of both national and European-level research infrastructures and coordination mechanisms. Another recommendation was to anchor the guidance in concrete cancer research scenarios and the emerging role of National Cancer Data Nodes.
The review process was coordinated by CANDLE’s work stream on alignment with the European Health Data Space (T3.3), led by BBMRI-ERIC, IACS and Sciensano.
Since National Cancer Data Nodes connect the cancer data and EHDS communities, CANDLE is in a good position to include a cancer perspective to the assets that TEHDAS2 is building.
