The CANDLE Project Represented at the 15th 1+MG Meeting!

The CANDLE Project was represented in the 15th meeting of the 1+MG group by our project coordinator, Lifang Liu.

During the 15th meeting of the group, held on September 10th in Copenhagen, CANDLE was introduced at the 1+MG meeting by CANDLE co-coordinator Lifang Liu in a special 30-minute slot. The CANDLE project introduction was followed by a discussion on connecting cancer data nodes to the genomic data infrastructure landscape, which received a positive response from the commission and country representatives.

The presentation highlighted CANDLE’s role within the cancer data space: the users can easily find data solutions in cancer data nodes without needing to know the technical details. This implies that CANDLE should synergize infrastructure solutions fulfilling users’ needs along the EHDS blueprint workflow. The talk presented National Cancer Data Nodes (NCDNs) as a tool to facilitate parallel development at the MS level (EHDS, EOSC, EDIC, etc.). CANDLE will join forces with GDI/1+MG cancer use cases to present a concrete example of cancer data nodes.

The 1+MG (1 + Million Genomes) Group was created by the EC to facilitate the coordination and implementation of the Declaration ‘Towards access to at least 1 million sequenced genomes in the European Union by 2022’. Its 12 specialised working groups gather national experts to define specifications and formulate guidelines for implementing the objectives of the 1+MG Declaration.
