The CANDLE Kick-off Meeting was held from June 16th to 17th in Amsterdam, and it was a success!
During the first day of meetings we explored the what and how of building National Cancer Data Nodes: from coordination (WP1 | Robin Navest), users and conceptualization (WP2 | Tomi P. Mäkelä), to technical connection (WP3 | Alfonso Valencia), maturation models (WP4 | Daniel Barrowdale), as well as communication, stakeholder connections, and policy (WP5 | Carola S., Griselda Marku, Sudeep Das, Richard Price).
The sessions addressed the necessary steps towards having the whole system in the room:
- Solid connections to the UNCAN-CONNECT and EU-CIP projects: research and patient-facing platforms
- Strong link to EHDS and its institutions (Irini Kessisoglou): HealthData@EU and TEHDAS2
The second day of sessions dived deeper into multiple topics of interest: the EU Mission on Cancer (Angelo Solimini | European Commission) and DG CNCT’s perspective on the CANDLE project (Aleksandra Wesolowska | European Commission), as well as our partner projects UNCAN-CONNECT (Kadi-Liis Veiman | Estonian Cancer Network ), EU-CIP: Cancer Information Portal (Carsten Canitz | Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin), and ECHoS | Establishing of Cancer Mission Hubs: Networks and Synergies (Hugo Soares | AICIB ), their planned activities, and alignment with CANDLE.
We concluded the sessions with Work Package breakout meetings, where all WP colleagues discussed the activities planned for the first year of the project and next steps.
