CANDLE at the EU Cancer Mission Conference and third TEHDAS2 Stakeholder Forum in Nicosia, Cyprus!

The CANDLE project was proudly represented at the EU Cancer Mission Conference and the third TEHDAS2 Stakeholder Forum, held in Nicosia, Cyprus, April 27-30, 2026.

The EU Cancer Mission Conference ‘Understanding Cancer in the Digital Age: Data, Innovation, and Equity’ was held on April 27th, in person and online. The sessions explored the EU Cancer Mission Approach, AI and digital innovation in cancer understanding, Cancer research capacity, and the European Cancer Patient Digital Centre. The first panel session, highlighting the UNCAN.EU Network and the EHDS, was joined by Professor Gerrit Meijer of Health-RI, coordinator of the CANDLE Project. As a member of this panel, he gave a short overview of the CANDLE project in the context of the European Health Data Space. Find out more about the event here.

Following the April 27th session, CANDLE was highlighted in the third TEHDAS2 Stakeholder Forum, held on April 29th-30th. This event brought together stakeholders from across the EU to showcase the vision of the European Health Union and the EHDS. Following a series of engaging plenary discussions, CANDLE was presented by our project coordinator, Lifang Liu of Health-RI, in Plenary Session 9: EHDS-Related Projects Cluster on Secondary Use. This session highlighted European initiatives supporting the implementation of the EHDS for the secondary use of health data. Dr. Liu gave an overview of the CANDLE project, how it addresses user needs within the EHDS context, and participated as a panellist alongside Nienke Schutte of Sciensano, Federico Palau Arvizu of NTT Data, and Dmitry Etin of NTT Data.
